Student welfare mechanisms for monitoring the sufficiency of student support Student Affairs Office

The aim of the Student Affairs Office is to contribute towards the development of an academic environment that promotes and facilitates the student learning experience and their academic success. To succeed, the Office is taking all necessary steps to support students to adjust to a new environment and helps them cope with various problems by offering personal and emotional support, recreational activities, career counseling, and housing support. The Student Affairs office works on a full-time basis with full-time personnel from 8:00 – 13:00 and 15:00 -18:00 or through personal one on one appointments

Larnaca College Student Affairs Office offers the following services:

Financial Support Service:

Students with financial difficulties can also solicit with the Student Affairs office for help to discuss the available Scholarships.

Housing Service:

The college does not operate a Halls of Residence however Larnaca College students can use this service which offers support for finding accommodation. The Student Affairs Office maintains an up to date list of available lodgings in the nearby area which is provided to students. It also has an agreement with local business and is in a position to offer accommodation in agreement with the students.

Counseling Service:

The purpose of the Counselling service is to provide support to students with disabilities, health/social/emotions problems so as to reassure equal access to their academic obligations and promote their wellbeing during their studies at the College. Addressing the problems effectively is achieved through the cooperation and good communication among the academic officers, the qualified student affairs officers, and the teaching personnel. Students are encouraged to discuss issues or difficulties that they may be facing during their studies with absolute confidentiality. Additionally, through this service, students can also report any complains that may have with the administrative or academic process at Larnaca College. The Student Affairs Office will ensure that all complaints are investigated and resolved.

Academic and Recreational Activities Service:

Larnaca College highly values the College experience, therefore, this service is designed to welcome new students to the College community through various academic and recreational activities to facilitate the process of settling into a new and unfamiliar environment. Therefore, this service has been developed to:

  • Organize and Carryout Orientation days every semester, at least two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. Student Affairs officers with faculty and staff are available to show students around the College, advise on College policies and regulations and explain student rights and responsibilities. An orientation handbook is provided to all newcomers containing all of the above including other useful information.
  • Organize and coordinate the Student Union

Organize and coordinate various student recreational activities at the college and in other areas that are appropriate in collaboration with the faculty members and the student union representatives.

Professional Support services:

Central to the goals of the College is the acquisition of the necessary academic and practical skills for a successful future career. This service aims to support students as
well as graduates in finding either part-time jobs to support their studies or full-time jobs after their graduation. Therefore, the Student Affairs Office:

  • Is in close link with the local market and maintains lists of job postings.
  • Maintains the College alumni through which College Graduates can get informed
    on jobs available
  • Provides professional counseling services regarding career opportunities and
    inquires on related concerns of the students
  • Organizes CV writing and interviewing techniques workshops/seminars/seminars
